Karyotype mapping
Chromosomes heve been mapped by pulsed field gel electrophoresis and many cloned markers mapped to chromosomes.

The genome has been divided by chromsome and different labs are responsible for constructing YAC and cosmid maps of their chosen ones. Most chromosome maps are now complete.
The physical map has been supplemented with a high density of mapped cloned gene, est, sts and microsattelite markers
EST sequencing

1321 mung bean nuclease generated gene fragments have been sequenced and deposited in Genbank/dbEST.
Genome Sequencing
A pilot project to sequence chromosome III has been approved for funding by the Wellcome Trust.
